HEALTH CARE

LASC helps address legal problems in a variety of ways, such as legal information, advice, or representation. LASC’s Health Care Team gives advice and representation to clients with the following health care issues:

  • Medicaid eligibility and coverage
  • Managed care plan denials
  • Home care/home health aides
  • Medicaid waiver issues
  • Medicare coverage
  • Medicare premium assistance programs – QMB, SLMB, QI-1
  • Hospital and other medical bills
  • Medical debt lawsuits
  • Marketplace coverage through healthcare.gov

Often, people can handle common health care issues with legal information. Visit the Resource Center for general information on public benefits, Medicaid waivers, and parity.

LASC may be able to represent you if:

  • You have been denied Medicaid or it has been more than 30 days since you applied, and you haven’t heard anything
  • Your Medicaid was ended, and you don’t think it should have been
  • Your Medicaid managed care plan will not cover a treatment or service that your doctor says you need (such as a medication or home care hours)
  • You cannot afford your Medicare premiums
  • You have been sued by a hospital or doctor for unpaid medical bills
