FAMILY LAW

LASC helps people with their legal problems in a variety of ways, such as legal information, advice, or representation. LASC’s Family Law Team gives advice and representation to clients with issues like:

  • Domestic violence, stalking, and other abuse
  • Child custody and parenting time
  • Termination of marriage
  • Child support

People can often handle common family law issues like filing paperwork to set up, increase, decrease or waive child support, questions about which parent can claim a child on their taxes, negotiating occasional changes to parenting time, selecting a school for your child on their own with legal information. Visit the Resource Center for informational brochures, answers to Frequently Asked Questions, links to helpful resources, and informational videos.

LASC’s Family Law Team may be able to represent you if:

  • You and/or your children are a victim of domestic abuse, stalking, dating violence, or sexual assault, and you need help with a protection order, divorce, child custody, or support matter.
  • You have limited English proficiency which may cause challenges in addressing your legal issues.
  • You face other barriers or challenges caused by legal issues, like a disability, or make less money than the other parent, your partner, or spouse.
