Lauren L. Kimmel

Professional Biography

Lauren L. Kimmel has been a Managing Attorney in our Marion office since 2018. Lauren oversees the attorneys, support staff and paralegals in the office that serves Marion, Morrow, Delaware and Union counties. Before joining Legal Aid, Lauren served as law clerk, then staff attorney and magistrate for the Hon. Robert D. Nichols, Common Pleas Judge of Madison County, Ohio, for nine years until his retirement (2004-2013).  She was appointed Domestic Relations Magistrate in January 2013, and continued to serve after the appointment of Hon. Eamon P. Costello for five years (2013-2018).

When asked what she enjoys most about her job Lauren said, “I enjoy the people I work with and the people I work for. The office is a very supportive atmosphere, and my co-workers are dedicated to what they do.  The people we serve are so grateful to be treated with respect and kindness. Even if we can’t solve every problem, they appreciate that we listen.”

Lauren recognizes the potential that legal aid has to change lives. “So often even a little help will make a big difference,” she said. “Helping with a housing issue can have effects on the client’s employment, health, their children’s education etc. Our clients are people who are disregarded by the system, and I hope that we are providing not only legal assistance to help them with their struggles but also that we are a place where they feel respected and heard.”
