2017 Tax Filing Season

It’s almost here… tax filing season!


January 22 – Central Ohio taxpayers can begin making appointments for free tax preparation by calling 2-1-1 from any 614 area code phone
January 29– Filing season officially starts and the IRS will start accepting electronically filed returns
February 3 – SUPER SATURDAY – Tax filing event – 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Columbus Downtown Highschool. 364 S 4th St, Columbus, OH 43215. Call 2-1-1 for an appointment but there will also be some walk-in availability. The event also includes a financial resource fair, with information on opening checking and savings accounts, understanding and enrolling in healthcare, understanding and repairing your credit, and benefits application assistance. In addition, the Fifth Third Bank Financial Empowerment Mobile eBus will be onsite providing financial education and services.
February 27 – The earliest the IRS expects Earned Income Tax Credit- and Additional Child Tax Credit-related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards
April 15 – Last day to file or amend 2014 tax returns and obtain a refund
April 17 – Due date for 2017 returns (The last day to file or amend 2017 returns and obtain a refund is April 17, 2021.)
