Scott Torguson

Professional Biography

Scott Torguson is the Managing Attorney with the Consumer Team at the Legal Aid Society of Columbus. Scott grew up in California and received his undergraduate degree in social science from California State University, Sacramento. He then received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania with the specific intention of working in legal services after graduation. In 2004, Scott joined Southeastern Ohio Legal Services (SEOLS) as a staff attorney. After seven years in Newark with SEOLS, he began working at LASC as the Managing Attorney of the Consumer Team, the position he has held since 2011. Along with maintaining his own caseload, Scott manages the four staff attorneys on his team and directs the group’s work by determining which cases to accept and how they will be handled. Generally, the Consumer Team represents clients against large banks, creditors, payday lenders or other collectors. Through his representation of LASC clients, Scott works to restore balance to the often unfair nature of the civil legal system.
