Who We Are

The Legal Aid Society of Columbus (LASC), a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, was created by the Columbus Bar Association in 1953 to provide legal aid in civil matters that ensures access to justice for economically disadvantaged people in Central Ohio through advocacy, education and empowerment.

Since 2008, the Legal Aid Society of Columbus (LASC) has been affiliated with The Ohio State Legal Services Association (OSLSA).  LASC remains its own 501(c)(3) non-profit with its own Board of Directors.  However, OSLSA is the parent organization. Click here for OSLSA’s website.  As a result, LASC is a sister program of Southeastern Ohio Legal Services (SEOLS) which is the legal aid organization which covers 30 counties in Southeastern Ohio.  Their website can be found here.

LASC does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, or age in admission, treatment, or participation in its programs, services and activities, or in employment.

Read the annual report here.

LASC depends on the generous support from a variety of organizations and community partners. We would like to recognize them below:
